53rd FEIBP Congress in Vienna
from 29th September to 1st October 2011

Flyer FEIBP 2011The 53rd congress of the European Brushware Federation (FEIBP) took place from 29th September to 1st October 2011 in Vienna. This top class event was organised to perfection by the Herneth-Ingrish family (TIB Ingrish GmbH). The organisers were proud of the high number of participants from many European countries, as well as guests from Tunisia and the USA. Companies that are members of national associations affiliated to the FEIBP (e.g. from Germany, France Great Britain, the Netherlands, Italy, Switzerland, etc) and all direct members of the FEIBP were invited to attend the congress.

As usual the meeting offered brush makers ample opportunity to hold interesting and informative talks with industry colleagues.

During the two-day Brush Forum, manufacturers of finished brushware goods and suppliers including Pogliani, Schlesinger GmbH, Borghi SpA., Zahoransky AG, Wöhler Brush Tech, WOMA, Hahl Filaments GmbH, Zahn Pinselmanufaktur had the opportunity to show other FEIBP members their latest products and innovations.

Inspiring talks were held by invited speakers Marco di Filippo and Alexander Balaska, as well as by European Brush Federation members Reinhold Hörz of DKSH Brush and Apparel Ltd., Urte Rietdorf of Friedrich Platt GmbH FEIBP Sekretär Fons Ceeleart i.V. for Mark Samuel, Dr. Jürgen Idzko of Hahl Filaments GmbH and Paolo Roversi of Borghi SpA, who informed the audience of the current situation facing their respective lines of trade.

A highlight of this year’s event was the 5th FEIBP Innovation Award, which has become a solid element of the overall congress programme, and for which two companies contended. The first prize was awarded to Zahn Pinsel GmbH (Germany) for their angular liner with innovative synthetic Brislon bristle. The second prize went to Zahoransky AG (Germany) for the Z.LYNX3 fully automated machine for production of twisted-in wire brushes.

Daniel Strowitzki of Freiburg Messe informed attendees on progress in the preparation for the 2012 edition of InterBrush from 9 – 11 May 2012 in Freiburg, Germany.

Traditionally the Working Groups Technical Brushes (Chair Michael Stoddard, future Chair Dr. Florestan von Boxberg, Osborn International GmbH) and Professional Hygiene Brushware (Chair: Philipp Coward) met in separate sessions to exchange information and conduct stimulating discussions.

Dr. Andrea Acquaderni, FEIBP-treasurer, gave the FEIBP-financial report for 2011 and a preview of the coming year.

In the evening of day one, the FEIBP organisers had arranged a tour of the city in an old timer tram, taking in the chief sights of the city of Vienna by night. This was followed by a musical evening in the relaxed atmosphere of a traditional “Heuriger„ wine tavern.

The gala dinner held in the evening of day 2 in the historic Palais Ferstel with culinary delights, music, lots of dancing and Viennese Waltz was an absolute highlight and worthy conclusion to the 53rd FEIBP Congress.

Attendees were given a short video presentation to prepare them for the 54th FEIBP congress which will be held in St.Gallen/Switzerland from 20-22 September 2012.
